Peaceful Kingdom is a 501(c)3 animal welfare organization founded in 2000. The mission of the organization is to end animal overpopulation and euthanasia of healthy animals in Knox County, Tn. Since 2000, Peaceful Kingdom has implemented several pilot programs: a subsidized spay/neuter program for pets of low-income citizens, an adoption center, a northern transport program, a pet tag making service, a trap/neuter/return program for feral cats, and Critter magazine for promoting animals available for adoption in Knox and surrounding counties. Most of these programs have been adopted and scaled up by other organizations. Critter magazine is currently the primary project of the organization.

Critter Magazine is published monthly by Peaceful Kingdom. The magazine is an all-volunteer project and has been in publication since 2000. It is distributed through veterinary hospitals, pet supply stores, boarding kennels, and other places that animal lovers go.
